    “Engauge”, a new experimental film festival based in Seattle, WA, invites you to submit your work.

    Created to highlight and augment the work of the Lightpress Grants offered twice yearly by Interbay Cinema Society, “Engauge” will consider only films that originated on film. That means that somewhere in the filmmaking process, you the filmmaker actually worked directly with celluloid, either by loading it into a camera and shooting film, or looking through and selecting found film footage, or directly scratching, painting, drawing onto or collaging footage.

  • North Bellarine Film Festival - Call for Animation + Experimental + Avant Garde works

    The program is called Animation + Experinental + Avan Garde film program.

  • Patricia Mellencamp "Save the Archives" Benefit Screening

    The Moving Image Society is hosting its inaugural "Save the Archives" benefit screening! In line with our ongoing programming efforts, we want to provoke discussion about the place of analog media and its preservation in a digital world. We invite submissions of works made on or using "obsolete media" (analog video, small-gauge celluloid film like 8mm and 16mm), found footage works made with any media, and any films that are about or related to archives, preservation, restoration, or provenance.

  • PRISME #1 - Call for films

    MIRE presents PRISME, an event that aims at celebrating current analog film practices and dynamics as well as promoting the networks that are committed to its development, artistic experimentation in general, and do it yourself philosophy. The first edition of PRISME, will take place from December 6 – 9, 2018.

    The Artifact Small Format Film Festival (formerly the $100 Film Festival) is the oldest film festival in Calgary (Canada), and one of the only ones in the world to EXCLUSIVELY screen Super 8 and 16mm films.

    Call for Submissions for the 27th edition of the festival are now open. We are looking for new (finished after Dec 2016), innovative, thought-provoking films from any genre that help keep the practice of celluloid filmmaking alive!

  • Alternative Film/Video 2018 - Call For Entries: COLLECTIVism

    Alternative Film/Video 2018 will take place from 12-16 December at Students’ City Cultural Center in Belgrade. Alternative Film/Video 2018 invites artists from around the world, including the region and Serbia, to submit their film and video works for the competition section of ALTERNATIVE FILM/VIDEO on the theme COLLECTIVism. Selection committee, according to the Festival regulations, will choose films and videos for competition.

  • Transient Visions: Festival of the Moving Image - Call for Entries

    We are excited to announce the sixth edition of Transient Visions: Festival of the Moving Image, which will take place on October 19 & 20, 2018 at Spool Contemporary Art Space, an artist-run alternative space in Johnson City, NY. We now look for submissions of short films and videos (less than 20 min.) produced in 2017 or 2018, from emerging and established artists/filmmakers across the globe.

  • Atelier 105 - Post-production residency for video - Second commission 2018

    The Atelier 105 artist residencies are dedicated to video-based post-production of films that fall within the realm of experimental cinema, with the objective of supporting ten to fifteen projects per year. Submissions are now open for the second residency session of 2018 (17 September to 21 December 2018). The application deadline is Wednesday 20 June 2018 (midnight).

    (However, please note that the session will be closed when the quota of 25 submissions has been reached)
