Sara Bonaventura

Sara Bonaventura is atelierista and visual artist, with a MA degree in contemporary art and gender studies, diverse experiences of didactics, curatorial, pr, cataloguin/archive, in several Cultural Institutions (Venice Biennale, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Giorgio Cini Foundation, Thyssen Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Berlin Kicken Gallery, Reggio Emilia City Museums, the Ray of Light Atelier and schools based on the Reggio Emilia Approach, like Ponzano Children, by Benetton Group).

Sara tries to fulfill her passion for the audiovisual medium. Her works have been screened in Italy and abroad, recently at the Anthology Film Archives (NewFilmmakers NY series), at Other Cinema, in San Francisco ATA Gallery; selected for residency in Belgium (Frans Masereel) and Spain (Fundación Botín) with the artist Joan Jonas. As independent videomaker she has been directing/editing official clips and collaborating with performers enacting videodance pieces. Commissioned to film unconventional adv and visuals. Contender in several festivals and winner at LFF 2014, Veneto Region Award.

She intertwines her frame by frame drawn/cut-out animation or stop motion, analog/digi shot, found-footage, embracing a DIY ethic and aesthetic. If the surface cracks, the crack becomes the surface; that break means intensity.
