Zidane - a 21st century portrait.

Just saw this film for the first time on DVD last night, as I didn't manage to catch it when it was first released.
Just wanted to urge anyone who has not seen it yet, to have a look, as I thought it was an incredible film. I have never been that interested in football, but what I found great about this film is the way that through focusing on one protagonist and there engagement in a sporting event (and an international obsession) , the artist's manage to present a bigger picture of contemporary society at large, and also inspire a lot of introspective existential contemplation along the way.

Interested to see how other people responded to the film, as I am sure this piece will encourage many different responses and readings, but I at least, was completely caught off guard and felt like my expectations were being manipulated and subverted in an extremely sophisticated and innovative way.

Very Interested to hear what other people thought of this film.
