non-syntax Experimental Image begins by focusing on the experimental nature of images in the contemporary, linking practices across countries, reorganizing existing media and genres, and bringing different images into dialogue with each other to consider the possibilities of the image.

2023 non-syntax Experimental Image continues exploring the exchange between images, trying to make the viewing distance, which has been determined by various forms, become a process of continuous change and displacement again. As "SISA" means "parallax" in Japanese pronunciation, in this short sound, we expect to create a blank space for the sight to pass through between different works. non-syntax will continue to seek the alternative practice which transgresses the existing grammar and forms its mobility among the genealogy of contemporary images.

The exhibition of this year will be held in multiple places in Tokyo, Japan. At the same time, non-syntax will collaborate with EXiS Experimental Film and Video Festival in Korea. Selected works from 2023’s open call will have the opportunity to participate in the exchange program.
