The Film and Video Poetry Society, host to the annual Film and Video Poetry Symposium, has become the principle financial sponsor to the trailblazing episodic series Into The Mothlight Podcast. As the audio program exceeds ten thousand listeners this month, Into The Mothloght Podcast will inaugurate FVPSociety sponsorship with episode #30. Due for release on June 4, 2021, this milestone episode will feature experimental filmmaker Nathaniel Dorsky.

Into The Mothlight Podcast is produced and presented by moving image artist Jason Moyes. The program is dedicated to artists’ moving image, experimental film, and gets into the minds of those who practice and celebrate both. Over the past 4 years Moyes has interviewed film artists, film lab pioneers, film preservationists and collectors, curators, researchers, and film festival programmers.

Moyes’ gentle interview style leads to an inquisitive yet non-academic exploration of creative processes, approaches to research, journeys into the world of film, and key moments these filmmakers had with the moving image and where these adventures have taken them. Past guests of the Into the Mothlight Podcast include filmmakers Daniel Fawcett and Clara Pais, Emma Penaz Eisner, Madison Brookshire, Screen Bandita’s Lydia Beilby, M M Serra and many, many more.

“Experimental filmmaking and the artists’ moving image are fundamental practices of the Film and Video Poetry Society. Writers who practice poetry and experimental filmmakers frequently converge through the FVPS platform and discover that their goals are alike: To re-imagine and communicate by means of raw perception, and this almost always leads to abandoning compositional logic. Into The Mothlight Podcast is an informal classroom where we may learn from the journeys of these pioneering artists.” — Jesse Russell Brooks Managing Director of The Film and Video Poetry Society

Into The Mothlight Podcast will present experimental filmmaker, author, and film editor Nathaniel Dorsky as guest in upcoming episode #30 of the podcast on June 4, 2021. Dorsky is famous for his meditative observations on the projected image as well as for his book Devotional Cinema.

“The films of Nathaniel Dorsky blend a beauteous celebration of the sensual world with a deep sense of introspection and solitude. They are occasions for reflection and meditation, on light, landscape, time and the motions of consciousness. Their luminous photography emphasizes the elemental frisson between solidity and luminosity, between spirit and matter, while his uniquely developed montage permits a fluid and flowing experience of time.” — Steve Polta Director of the San Francisco CinemathequeAnyone can listen to or download Into The Mothlight Podcast.
