Thousandsuns Cinema animates aspects of Media City Film Festival’s long-storied program history online. Featuring selections from hundreds of artists showcased by MCFF over its twenty-five year history, Thousandsuns presents short and feature-length films, previous MCFF commissions, fellowship screenings, retrospectives, and other cinematic endeavours connected with our activities since 1994. Moving image artworks exhibited in Thousandsuns Cinema will screen for a limited time. Conceived as a working space, THOUSANDSUNS will also function as an ever-growing online index, cataloguing artists operating in avant-garde film circles internationally. As MCFF works to migrate its immense history of previously screened filmmakers online, new artists will also be invited to exhibit their work.

The second iteration includes 50 films (worldwide, no restrictions, free) by another incredible roster of luminaries & comrades, including Želimir Žilnik, Cauleen Smith, valie export, Sergei Loznitsa, Sergei Eisenstein, Peter Hutton, Basma Alsharif, Kevin Jerome Everson, Barbara Hammer, Ben Russell, Julius-Amédée Laou, Kurt Kren, Chick Strand, Johan van der Keuken, Raymundo Gleyzer, Tomonari Nishikawa, New Red Order (Zack Khalil, Shinhwa'ak Krebs Khalil, Jackson Polys) Toney Merritt, Abigail Child, Anya Tsyrlina & Sid Iandovka, Paige Taul, Fern Silva, and Maria Lassnig.

Special thanks to Steve McFarlane for curating two amazing programs featuring rarely screened films by Julius-Amédée Laou and Raymundo Gleyzer! And, to Herb Shellenberger for curating the work of New Red Order, Johan van der Keuken, Anya Tsyrlina & Sid Iandovka.

An extra special thank you to program partners and distributors: Sixpack Film, Canyon Cinema Foundation, Video Data Bank, Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI), ATOMS & VOID, and to the artists (and estates) who have agreed to make these films available.
