Vladimir Nadein, co-founder and director: “The fifth festival is the stage when we can take a look at our evolution process, see how the global tasks that we set for ourselves are realized. One of them is the development and support of the local context: it is important for us to see more Russian participants in the festival programme, so this year we established preferential conditions for filing an application for artists and directors from Russia. Besides, we are interested not only in local authors, but also in works from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.”

Moscow International Experimental Film Festival was established in 2016 with a strong aspiration to create a new cultural institution that would provide a close look at a wide range of experimental practices with the moving image. MIEFF is an international showcase platform welcoming up-and-coming as well as experienced filmmakers from around the world and will lay the foundation for a new generation of artists in our country, facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue, and engage a wider creative young audience with this brave approach to seeing things differently in film.
