    The contest Vidéographies [21] aims to develop contemporary creation and to support the passage of young artists (student or new graduates) active in the fields of the cinema, television, audio-visual arts and digital images to the professional environment. As Exprmntl did in the past, the contest will celebrate the most original and creative steps. Experimental visual research, experimentation, new images, new glances, new contents, new writings (visual, narrative, cross and multi media) are encouraged.

  • 20th International Screen Studies Conference: Call for papers

    20th international Screen Studies Conference
    University of Glasgow, Scotland, 2-4 July 2010

    Organised by Screen journal and programmed by Screen editor Karen Lury.

    Confirmed plenary speakers:
    o Chris Holmlund, University of Tennessee
    o Andrew Klevan, University of Oxford
    o Jacob Smith, University of Nottingham
    o Lesley Stern, UC San Diego

    Screen performance will be the subject of the plenaries and will form a strand running throughout the Conference. However, papers on any topic in screen studies, ie cinema, television and digital media, are welcome. Submissions for pre-formed, three-person panels will be considered but not prioritised.

    Please send your 200-word proposal to arrive no later than Friday 8 January 2010, marking the subject box 'Conference 2010', to [email protected].

  • Experiments in Cinema V5,1

    Experiments in Cinema V5.1 (a Basement Films production in collaboration with UNM's Department of Cinematic Arts) is currently seeking submissions for our 5th annual celebration of international, cinematic experimentation. This year's festival will take place in Albuquerque April 15-18, 2010.  We encourage all moving image artists creating unembedded, undependent, underground, experimental, personal, and wildly imaginative media to submit to our festival (postmark deadline for submissions is December 10, 2009 though if materials are dated a day or two later we will happily accept your work for consideration!!).

  • 2009 Denver Underground Film Festival

    To enter the 2009 Denver Underground Film Festival please print and fill out the ENTRY FORM and include it with the screening copy of your film. 

    The deadline for entries is November 15th, 2009.
    The entry fee for the festival is $20 and free for previous DUFF participants. Please follow this link to Paypal to send it in.

  • CUBE Open 09 Submissions

    Cube Open Call For Entries

    CUBE is deligthed to be announcing its annual open submission competition. Now in its third year - Artists, architects and designers are welcome to submit work that responds to our theme of the urban built environment.

    Selected entries will be exhibited at CUBE with the overall winner receiving a residency in the gallery in 2010 and £1000 - two runners up will receive £250 each.

    This year's selectors are Leo Fitzmaurice, Sans Façon, CUBE Creative Director Jane Anderson and last year's winner Andrea Booker.

    To apply please send a CD Rom with selection of work (no more than six images) please ensure that it is a standard package such as powerpoint, or standard image films such as jpegs. If we cannot open your files your application will not be accepted. Please do not send originals.

    For video submissions please send a DVD accessible menu. Please do not send exhibition versions, which cannot be navigated.

    A 15* submission fee is requires for each application. Please send cheques or postal orders payable to the University of Salford

  • Oslo Screen 2010

    Oslo Screen Festival is an international festival which began in 2008 with the aim of bringing together established and emerging artists working with video art to present their work to Oslo audiences. The purpose of the festival is to focus on experimental video works and to emphasise emerging poetics of the medium. We are now open for entries to the festival's second edition in March 2010. The festival will take place at Cinemateket/Filmens Hus.

    EXPERIMENTA 2009 seeks films/videos that challenge popular and conventional modes of cinema. Abstract to obscure compositions from any genre produced on the margins of contemporary screen-culture are welcome. Innovative, cutting edge and non-traditional work that attempts to aesthetically extend the parameters of the mediums of film and video is encouraged.
