We Invented Nothing is an open call created for a BAM film festival organised by Bierumer School art residency in Bierum, The Netherlands.

With this open call two artists - Julija Paškevičiūtė and Liza Kovalenko are offering you a little creative detour/dérive. They are applying to your own creations/your personal video/image/sound archive. Submissions should be not more than 5min long, send them via wetransfer/dropbox/vimeo/anything that allows them to download your material to mail[email protected]entednothing.com

Point of Departure/Why should I contribute?

With your submissions artist are aiming to create an alternative ''imagery'' stock to be established for a single purpose - combine it into a unified film that will be shown during BAM film festival.  Referring to Guy Debord ''the Society of Spectacle'' and ''Critique of Separation'' ('One of the greatest anti-films of all time!') and his methods of gathering images from found footage. Artist who inspired to problematize reception, misquote deliberately in order to activate the viewer AND the contributor. In addition, offered a possibility to participate in a film festival Julija and Lisa decided to disassemble the key elements of ''a film festival'': a film itself and the process of making it, the infrastructure that allows us to view films, expectations from the audience and other elements that come along. All the conclusions remain to be drawn...

We have invented nothing! The whole process will be taking place between 19th November - 19th December 2017. It is an experiment, a creative detour for your creative endeavours. What happens to the material when you submit it into unknown context, slightly randomised working flow?.. You are welcome to follow, pose questions and of course be credited for your submissions.

Sincerely yours,

Julija,Lisa and Bierumer School
