It's time to intensify the work of inventing new worlds and new humanities. Time to propose new understandings and experiences for the moving image. Time to unfold cinema in new practices of imagination and sensitive bonds of cooperation with everything that lives. It is an emergency time. Time to reaffirm the commitment of DOBRA - International Experimental Film Festival with the creation and maintenance of a cinematic experimentation space in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

For this new time, we call on artists to submit their works to the 9th edition of DOBRA, which will take place at the Cinemateca do MAM-Rio in September 2023. In a world that witnesses in an ever deeper way the breakdown of ancient structures, we remain firm in our belief in the restorative and libertarian potency of a cinema that is made in a critical and experimental way. We joyfully announce the launch of the DOBRA 2023's Open Call and thank for the luminous contribution of experimental cinema in this changing world.

The Open Call for the 2023 edition will be available until May 22nd. Submission is free and will be accepted experimental films made in all formats and film gauges, made between the years 2022 and 2023. There is no restriction for length.

The 2023 edition of DOBRA will take place in September 26th to 30th in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil. This year the festival is being co-produced by Firula Filmes and has the support of RioFilme,  through the Secretaria de Cultura da Prefeitura do Rio (Rio City Hall's Secretary of Culture).
