The first edition of Films From the South will take place at Fix in Art (Thessaloniki, Greece) in October 2019. Filmmakers and video artists are welcome to present projects that open doors to possible changes outside the dominant narratives, breaking the binary structures to intersectional understandings between class, race, gender and religion.

As Fernando Solanas and Octavio Getino defined, the third cinemas1 brings decolonized transformative perspectives. Using the immediate, sometimes precarious, technology to bring voice to those who can’t express their own vision, questioning the visual regime from the west.
Understanding south outside of time and space but as a counterpoint to neocolonialism, neofascism, social exclusion and marginalization.
All submissions will be judged by an international panel of jurors and a selected number will be featured in the main program.
