  • Stan Brakhage

    Stan Brakhage (January 14, 1933 – March 9, 2003) was an non-narrative filmmaker. He is regarded as one of the most important experimental filmmakers of the 20th century. He worked with various kinds of celluloid: 16mm, 8mm, 35mm, and IMAX, and was a practitioner of what he referred to as 'pure cinema'.

  • Stephen Broomer

    Stephen Broomer (b. 1984) is a filmmaker and film preservationist. He holds a BFA in Film and Video Production, an MA in Film Studies, and a PhD in Communication & Culture, his dissertation a study of the origins of the Canadian avant-garde film. He has given public presentations of his film restoration work at the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Canadian Film Institute, and his own films have screened at Views from the Avant-Garde, TIFF Wavelengths, and the Berlin Directors Lounge.

    Carl E. Brown (b.Toronto, 1959) is a canadian filmmaker, photographer and writer. After two years at the University of Toronto where he studied philosophy and psychology, he decided to study filmmaking, completed in 1982 at Sheridan College. He's completed nearly twenty films which have been screened in many festivals in America, Europe and Asia, and were part of the retrospective Experience chromatiques le cinema contemporain at the Louvre in 1995.

    Martha Colburn is a filmmaker well-known for her animation films, which are created through puppetry, collage, and paint on glass techniques. She has made over forty films since 1994. 1 Colburn has also been fervently involved in playing music. One out of numerous groups she has been a part of is The Dramatics, a band she formed in Baltimore with Jason Willett.

  • Nick Collins

    Nick Collins (b. 1953) has been making films since 1976. His work, usually made on 16mm film, explores landscapes, human presence and absence and the passage of time. Collins’ films have been shown widely at festivals across the world, including at Toronto International Film Festival, London Film Festival and Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Brighton.

    Olivier Dekegel (b.1970) lives and works in Brussels. After studying cinema at INSAS, he worked for several years as assistant, dramatist, light and sound designer for different modern dance and theatre companies. He has also been involved in other filmmaker’s works. Since 2003, he has been working as curator for the Royal Belgian Film Archive. Since 2013, he is in charge of L’Age d’Or Festival.
