Sara Bonaventura is atelierista [2] and visual artist, with a MA degree [3] in contemporary art and gender studies, diverse experiences of didactics, curatorial, pr, cataloguin/archive, in several Cultural Institutions (Venice Biennale [4], Peggy Guggenheim Collection [5], Giorgio Cini Foundation [6], Thyssen Bornemisza Art Contemporary [7], Berlin Kicken Gallery [8], Reggio Emilia City Museums [9], the Ray of Light Atelier [10] and schools based on the Reggio Emilia Approach [11], like Ponzano Children [12], by Benetton Group [13]).
Sara tries to fulfill her passion for the audiovisual medium. Her works have been screened in Italy and abroad, recently at the Anthology Film Archives [14] (NewFilmmakers [15] NY series), at Other Cinema [16], in San Francisco ATA Gallery [17]; selected for residency in Belgium (Frans Masereel [18]) and Spain (Fundación Botín [19]) with the artist Joan Jonas. As independent videomaker she has been directing/editing official clips and collaborating with performers enacting videodance pieces. Commissioned to film unconventional adv and visuals. Contender in several festivals and winner [20] at LFF [21] 2014, Veneto Region Award.
She intertwines her frame by frame drawn/cut-out animation or stop motion, analog/digi shot, found-footage, embracing a DIY ethic and aesthetic. If the surface cracks, the crack becomes the surface; that break means intensity.
Points of intensity rather than sutures.
