World Cinema Carnival, is an exhibitory flux of moving images that celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of filmmakers, producers, animators, video artists, and researchers. This curated event is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community that pushes the boundaries of the cinematic medium and challenges conventional language and forms. At World Cinema Carnival, our curatorial approach transcends limitations and inhibitions, constantly exploring new contextual and conceptual dimensions, and redefining the very essence of cinema.
Since April 2022 Eric Theise has been manipulating projected digital maps in collaboration with improvising musicians in Europe and the United States. Constraining his project to use only web mapping technologies, A Synesthete's Atlas is his unique approach to expanded cinema, drawing strategies from experimental film & animation, the Light and Space movement, 1960s light shows, and visual poetry.
DOBRA - Int'l Experimental Film Festival is celebrating its 9th consecutive edition in 2023, showcasing the creative power of moving images as they explore new horizons for the emergence of a new world. From September 27th to 30th, DOBRA will present a panorama of international experimental cinema at Cinemateca do MAM in Rio de Janeiro, with a special focus on Latin American art. From October 3rd to 8th, the Festival will make its debut in São Paulo, offering a selection of its program at Centro Cultural São Paulo. All activities at DOBRA are free of charge.

In the last 15 years we have seen the flourishing of a network of filmmakers, institutions, schools and laboratories devoted to keeping analogue film culture alive in cities like Barcelona, Madrid, San Sebastián and La Coruña. Fresh from New York, we’ll be showing in Barcelona the cycle Private Collection, three programmes that run through the contemporary cinema scene filmed and screened in 16 mm and Super-8.
