MECONIO (Muestra de Nuevos Cineastas) launches its first open call to any kind of proposals that challenge the language and principles of conventional cinema, regardless of their format, genre or country of origin. We are looking for works that share a passion for the exploration of new ways of making cinema and a desire to question its own boundaries. Meconio is a non-competitive space for new films that aims to give visibility to the selected works through its exhibition. We accept works from authors under 35 from any country.

The deadline is 30th September, 2016, and the final selection will be made public on the 15th October, 2016. The works selected will be screened in the second Muestra de Nuevos Cineastas, in Madrid, during November 2016.

All works must have been produced after September 1st, 2015. Authors are allowed to submit more than one work, but the total of the submissions must not exceed 20 mins of duration. If the language of the works is not Spanish, it must include either English or Spanish subtitles. Each work must be accompanied by:

• Title
• Brief sinopsis (one paragraph)
