Her current work focuses on experimentation with the moving image, and transcultural aesthetic approaches to cinema. She was a Fulbright Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellow (2015-16) at the University of Colorado Boulder and a UK Environmenatal Film Fellow (2006) who has won several awards for her films and collaborations. Her films have been screened at various international festivals including the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival (Japan), Interfilm Berlin (Germany), Green Film Festival (Korea), Wildscreen UK, Big Ears Festival and Fargo Film Festival (USA), Olhar de Cinema and Dobra Experimental Film Festival (Brazil), ULTRACinema MX,, Experimental Superstars (Serbia), Digital Anthropologies (France) and more. Subramanian has taught film and media studies from 2007-2015 in India and 2016 onwards in the US. She is also a published childrens' books author and western classical vocalist. FREE
