CROSSROADS 2017 is the eighth manifestation of our annual film festival to be held May 19–21, 2017 at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. CROSSROADS 2017 will showcase 60–70 new film/video works by emerging and established filmmakers, including performance and works of “live cinema.”

Highlights of this year’s festival include:
— The West Coast Premiere (following its momentous premiere at Sundance 2017) of Travis Wilkerson’s Did You Wonder Who Fired the Gun? a harrowing, confrontational, deeply personal documentary investigation on this incident, a Southern Gothic murder mystery directly addressing white racism in America, past and present. (“…one of the strongest works at a chilling Sundance Film Festival ...one of the most rigorous and intelligent American documentarians… “Amy Taubin…, Artforum)
— World Premieres of films by filmmakers Ariana Gerstein, Pere Ginard, Mike Hoolboom, Brett Kashmere, J.M. Martínez, Rajee Samarasinghe and Robert Todd.
— Local and U.S. Premieres of films by filmmakers Dianna Barrie; Alison Bennett, Jeremy Martino, Greg Penn & Autumn Royal; Mary Billyou; Danaya Chulphuthiphong; Mary Helena Clark; Paul Clipson; Julia Dogra-Brazell; Zachary Epcar; Erin Espelie; Kevin Jerome Everson; Anton Ginzburg; Christopher Harris; Sky Hopinka; LIMITS; Cristiana Miranda; Emilie Morin; Michael A. Morris; Christina C Nguyen; Emmanuel Piton; Miko Revereza; Andrée-Anne Roussel; Jamilah Sabur; Mónica Savirón; Cauleen Smith; Vicky Smith; Guillaume Vallée; Travis Wilkerson and Andrew Norman Wilson.
— Apparent Motion: CROSSROADS’ centerpiece program of international performance cinema, an ever-renewing. This year’s performance cinema extravaganza includes in-person appearances by Britt Al-Busultan (née Kootstra; Övermalax, Finland) and Rose Kallal (New York NY) and local master of live analog video abstraction, Andrew Puls.
