On the occasion of the arrival in Paris of the filmmaker Daïchi Saïto, who just won the Tiger Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival with his new film Engram of Returning, we invite you to an experimental movie night Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 20h at the Finnish Institute.

The 35mm format is the most used of the silver film cinema. Considered the "standard format", it measures 35 millimeters wide and has in its edges rectangular perforations to ensure its traction by the various mechanisms of shooting and projection.

The program presents six short films made exclusively in 35mm, exploring the mysterious link between landscape and perception. The filmmakers - all involved, from one side of the Atlantic to the other, in the craftsmanship of their films on silver format - forged by a common language from organic forms. Engaged with the materiality of pictures - swinging, lively and ephemeral - they become like footprints etched in the landscape, following the uncertain course of our memory.

The session will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers Daïchi Saïto, Christopher Becks and Emmanuel Lefrant.

Programme:
- Ouverture (Christopher Becks, 2010, 35 mm, b&w, sil, 5' 00)
- Le Pays Dévasté (Emmanuel Lefrant, 2015, 35 mm, colour, sound, 11' 30)
